Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Dengue Fever or Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease that caused by dengue virus which is transmitted through mosquito, especially Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Both these species are found in almost all regions of Indonesia, except in places that has a height more than 1000 meters above sea level.
Dengue fever is often misdiagnosed with other diseases such as flu or typhoid. This is because dengue virus infection that causes dengue fever can be asymptomatic or having unclear symptoms. The data indicate that patients with DHF often shown symptoms like cough, runny nose, vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. The disease could be severe because its virus can go along with other diseases infection such as flu or typhoid.
Therefore we need to understand precisely about the virus infection, its pathophysiology, and good clinical observations. By having good and complete clinical examination, diagnosis of DHF and support examination (laboratory) can be helpful especially when the clinical symptoms are inadequate.
The Cause, Dengue fever is caused by dengue virus type DEN 1, DEN 2, DEN 3 and DEN 4. The virus is included in Arthropod-borne Group B viruses (arboviruses). These four viruses have been found in various regions and types of virus that are emerging in the society are the dengue virus type one and three.
